Portugal enters list of best worldwide locations for outsourcing

The world leading IT consulting firm Gartner has for the first time included Portugal in the list of best worldwide locations for IT services outsourcing, according to a press release recently issued by Portugal Outsourcing.

Gartner’s report places Portugal among the 11 developed countries with higher potential to host both offshore and nearshore outsourcing operations, in a list preceded by the ranking of top 30 countries lead exclusively by emerging nations.

In Europe, Portugal is ranked alongside with locations such as Ireland, Israel, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Spain and Wales, which Gartner rates as markets with a mature domestic environment, skilled labor in IT and business processes, robust technology infrastructure and mature legislation, where the investment of multinational service providers is also often significant. Also according to Gartner, cost is the criteria where these countries still perform lower when compared to emerging economies.
